Event Smoky Mountain SpringFest

Description Birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, trees are full of new growth and leaves, frost has melted from the high country and waterfalls cascade onto rocks below. Wildlife are emerging and stirring about from their winter slumber. Indeed, spring can be felt in the cool, crisp air of Gatlinburg.

Event Smoky Mountain Trout Tournament

Event Mountain Man Memorial March
Dates April 20 - 21
Description The Fifth Annual Mountain Man Memorial March is a 26.2-mile march in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee which will be conducted Saturday, April 20 and 21 in Gatlinburg as a tribute to our men and women in uniform. The event honors 1st Lt. Frank Walkup, a University of Tennessee-Knoxville alumnus who was killed in the line of duty in Iraq in 2007.

Event Ribfest & Wings

Description The downtown area will transform into a street fair on Thursday, April 26 when Gatlinburg hosts Ribfest, Wings & BBQ. The purchase of an armband allows sampling until the ribs and wings run out during this popular 11th annual festival will feature musical entertainment, food sampling from 5 to 9 p.m. and loads of atmosphere on Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies Plaza and the immediate area. Come out and enjoy live entertainment, hot wing eating contests and ice cream eating contests, each promising a wonderfully good time!

Event Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival

Description
Combine fine art, a gorgeous mountain backdrop, diversity in creativity from across the nation, a national renowned school of arts and crafts, and what do you have?
That would be the Eighth Annual Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival at Arrrowmont, set Labor Day weekend, 2012, at the base of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, showcasing artists at the top of their fields.  Participating exhibitors are chosen by jury in 16 categories ranging from ceramics and glass to watercolor and woodworking; $10,000 in prizes and purchase vouchers is at stake.  For artists, the festival is a prestige event. For visitors, it’s a guaranteed opportunity to enjoy the best in fine art, a fantastic free children activity program, listening to music, and gaze at the nearby mountains.

Event Fourth of July Midnight Parade

Description For the 37th consecutive year, Gatlinburg kicks off America’s celebration with the nation’s first parade, which leads off in the opening moment of the holiday at 12 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4, to the cheers of close to 100,000 spectators. Members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard, plus vintage military vehicles, local area public safety agencies, and lots more will appear in the parade.

Description

This year’s fun-filled Fourth of July celebration in Gatlinburg will feature the always-competitive River Raft Regatta, the unmanned kind.

Anything floatable can be entered starting at 10 a.m. at the Christ in the Smokies bridge on River Road. There will be prizes for the top three places in these divisions: Hand-made Decorated, Floatable Object (no creativity), Small Entry (pill bottle sized), Oldest Entry, Youngest Entry, Judges Choice (or most unique), Ripley’s Believe It or Not Entry. Trophies will be supplied by the Gatlinburg Recreation Department.
